JUST IN FOR SPRING 2010
|
|
|
|
GREETINGS
|
Hi knitters! Well, the hits just keep on
coming! We can't get over how many great
new yarns have arrived, many of them fair
trade artisan style, some made here in the
US, and all of them luscious to work with.
We've concentrated this season on filling
in little niches, like a bulky cotton, a
machine-wash merino, a thick 'n' thin, some
hand-dyed silk and cashmere, and oh so
many more! We hope you like browsing
through the new yarns and have as much
fun as we do dreaming up projects for them!
Enjoy! |

NOW HERE !
|
|
We're thrilled to have Madelinetosh yarns
come our way. We've ordered a full spectrum
of the DK yarn, plus a rainbow of sock yarns.
There's also a sampling of 2 laceweight yarns.
All in the stupendous colorways that have made
Madelinetosh so instantly famous recently.

WHAT'S NEW
|
We decided to bring in 4 new Araucania
yarns, for two reasons: the idea of supporting the
effort to revive artisan dyeing in Chile appeals to
us, and the new pattern book they've released is
just awesome in every respect. So look for those
great fibers & colorways.
Rowan's eco-friendly "Revive" will make a
perfect summer project. There's a suprising drape
to this fiber, and it's tweedy, too. Rowan Siena is
another great summer yarn.
Noro enters the lace-weight world with a great
new single-ply, and also presents a nice summer
yarn with a cute slubby wrap to further brighten
its palette.
There's something for everyone! |

| A TIP: KEEPING TRACK |
If youd like to keep track of a regular increase,
decrease, or cable row, without fussy counters or
(gasp!) paper & pencil hash-marks, here's a tip from
one of Lucy Neatby's fantastic classes at Stitches:
Just run a thin yarn up your piece, flipping the yarn
over your needle on your action row. When you look
at your knitting, you'll see that thin yarn creating sort
of a basting line up your work. It will be easy to see
when to do the next action row. Make that thin yarn
bright and contrast-y. |

Monarch Knitting was privileged to hold the
Rowan Yarns 30th Anniversary Exhibt this
past December.
We also hosted for a third year a lecture on color by
Kaffe Fassett.
