Spotlight on: Madelinetosh Pebble

I am so excited to have Tosh Pebble at the shop, although it is a bit odd for me to put the name Madelinetosh in front of the name instead of Shibui. :) Despite the new name, it is the exact same yarn many knitters know and love. Did you know that Pebble is one of my desert island yarns?  I could knit Pebble held single, double, or paired with another yarn, ideally Silk Cloud!

Pebble comes in a 25-gram hank that has 224 yards or 205 meters. It is officially called a sport weight yarn, but I use it more as a heavy fingering. Knit singly on a US 3 (3.25 mm) needle; you should get 25 stitches to 4 inches.

Peak Scarf—This scarf has lived in my closet for years. I love the triangle shape and the stunning ribbing. It can be styled so many different ways, and it is a great travel piece. Pebble held double is yummy, and I might be planning on another project with this same yarn….see below.

Athos - One of our most popular projects in the shop is the Athos cowl. Knit in a scrumptious mix of Pebble and Silk Cloud, it’s an effortless project and accessory. The cowl is knit in two pieces, using German short rows, a three-needle bind-off, and a seam at the neck. If you have not knit short rows before, this is a great project to pick up a new technique. Show off a pop of color or neutral; it’s semi-reversible!

Cirrus—We have had a few clients knit Cirrus, and it is one of their favorites. Pebble and Silk Cloud create a soft and drapey fabric. This easy-to-wear sweater features wide sleeves, a curved hem, and a cowl neck.

So, what is next on the needles for me? Pebble doubled! I knitted the sweater Big Love with Biches et Buches a few years ago. I have always had my eye on the lighter version, Little Love. I have always liked a more denser fabric so that I will knit it in Pebble held double in the color Ash. This will be a wardrobe staple.

I hope you've found a bit of inspiration here and you'll consider adding Pebble into your stash. It's truly a must-have!

I’d like to pair Pebble with a solid for a Morning Walk hat. Can you recommend something similar to Lunar? I’m leaning toward Tar right now.

No need to post this. Just a shop question.
