Foggy Days and Fresh Knitting Projects
Dear Friends,
I hope you are all doing well and enjoying “spring.” I used quotation marks because, here on the Peninsula, our foggy June Gloom has set in, keeping temperatures in the high 50s. I must admit, I do love the foggy days — it's sweater weather year-round!
This past weekend, my daughter and I attended a concert at the Sand Box Sand City Theater. What an amazing experience it was to be in a small venue with nine celebrated chamber musicians, listening to Osvaldo Golijov’s "Last Round" and a piece by Mendelssohn. It was truly one of the best events I have ever attended here on the Peninsula, and I plan to keep an eye on the calendar for more events. The Peninsula is always full of surprises, and it's so cool to discover something new after living here for over 30 years.
Stay tuned, friends! Over the next two weeks, we will introduce kits for our Early Summer Tee Along. We are just waiting for a couple of new yarns to arrive. The Tee Along will run from June 15 to July 15. If you select a tee or summer sweater to knit and purchase the yarn from us, we will gift you the pattern. We have some kits to choose from, but you can also come into the shop to select your own. We will host a knitting group at the shop and keep up with one another on Ravelry.
For those of you preparing for summer travel, we have not one, but two sock kits available in this week’s newsletter, one of which features our store favorite, the Salty Blonde Sock Sets. Grab a kit, add a Walker Bag, and slip it into your tote so you have summer knitting at the ready!
We will keep pre-orders for Monarch Knitting’s 2026 Advent Calendar open for the next couple of weeks. As I mentioned last week, the calendar will feature fun surprises, beautiful yarns, and special treats to make your holiday season even more memorable. We might have a couple of these available for purchase in the fall, but there will be just a few, so pre-ordering is the best way to ensure you have one in hand.
Knit…and be Happy,
Ann

Armi Scarf
A little scarf with big styling potential! We love stripes, and the Armi Scarf is such a fun way to play with them. Our kits combine Sandnes Garn Sunday, Soft Silk Mohair, and a contrasting mini skein to create a soft, lightweight scarf that’s perfect for adding a cheerful touch to your spring wardrobe.
Weaver Shorties
A perfect sock for the season, the Weaver Shorties feature a subtle woven texture and a clever heel construction that requires no picking up stitches. We’re knitting ours in Fanshell Fingering, and they’re exactly the kind of “potato chip knitting” we love — simple, satisfying, and wonderfully addictive.
Stillwater Socks
The perfect pattern for our new Salty Blonde Sock Sets: we're knitting the Stillwater Socks. Mock cables, subtle texture, gorgeous color, what's not to love? A fun project for sock knitters who appreciate beautiful yarn and thoughtful details.
Dance on the Breeze
Continuing with her baby blanket series, Ann is knitting the Dance on the Breeze baby blanket in Berroco Vintage — one of her go-to yarns for baby knits. With a simple four-row repeat and a classic seed stitch border, this timeless design is a beautiful choice for welcoming a new little one.
Flock Vest
Layering season calls for the Flock Vest by Andrea Mowry — a fun striped vest that can be worn buttoned as a tank or layered over your favorite tees. We’ve created kits in Plucky Knitter Legacy Worsted, making this a quick, satisfying knit with endless styling possibilities. This one is fast, fun, and so wearable!

Fior di Lino and Fior di Cashmere are back and just as lovely as ever. We love these yarns for a variety of projects and are so happy to have a fresh stock.
The stunning Bao Bao Shawl has hit our shelves again and we are obsessed! This gorgeous shawl featuring mYak Tibetan Cloud sold out quickly the first time around. If you’ve been hoping to cast on one of these beautiful wraps, now is the perfect time to grab your kit before they disappear again.

Looking for a more comfortable way to knit? These new needles feature a unique square shape with softly rounded corners that many knitters find easier on their hands. Made from the same smooth stainless steel as ChiaoGoo’s beloved Twist tips, they offer the same wonderful yarn glide with a more relaxed grip — perfect for longer knitting sessions.
