MONARCH BY THE SEA
Join Us for Our Inaugural Retreat
Four days of cozy stitching, engaging workshops, and family-style suppers — tucked away on the ruggedly beautiful Monterey Peninsula coast.
The setting
Pacific Grove sets the tone
Between workshops and meals, there will be time for a quiet walk, a breath of salt air, and the kind of conversation that happens when there is finally time. Be sure to pack a sweater for cool coastal weather.
Our retreat is intentionally small, giving you the opportunity to connect with fellow knitters, enjoy thoughtful gifts and special materials, and settle into your stitching at the Kimpton Mirador Hotel.
the teacher
Kate Atherley

The schedule
We’ve Planned the Details—You Enjoy the Retreat
Arrival at your leisure
Check in to the well-appointed Kimpton Mirador Hotel in Pacific Grove, meet your hosts and fellow makers, and ease in with a relaxed evening get-together and welcome dinner.
A private shopping experience
A slow morning to enjoy as you wish — perhaps a coastal walk, a visit to the fitness center, or breakfast at The Caledonian.
We’ll gather for our first workshop in the morning, followed by a shared lunch. The afternoon continues with a second workshop session.
In the evening, we’ll walk around the corner to Monarch Knitting for a private shopping experience, accompanied by generous hors d’oeuvres and drinks. The night winds down back at the hotel, with cozy knitting by the fire.
Time to explore
Another unhurried morning to savor at your own pace.
We’ll come together for a morning workshop, followed by lunch and a second afternoon session. Later, enjoy free time to explore Pacific Grove or wander into neighboring Carmel-by-the-Sea.
We’ll reconvene in the evening for a delicious closing dinner at the hotel at The Caledonian. No speeches — let's just enjoy our time together.
Farewell, farewell...
We make our way to Monarch Knitting for coffee, pastries, and a bittersweet send-off.
