What’s included in the retreat?

Your stay at the Kimpton Hotel Mirador, shared meals, all workshops with Kate Atherley, and a series of thoughtful touches and gifts curated just for the retreat. Every detail has been considered so you can settle in and enjoy the experience fully.

What is not included?

Travel to and from Pacific Grove is not included, along with personal purchases and a few open meals and drinks during free time. This allows space to explore the area at your own pace.

Where will we be staying?

Guests will stay at the Kimpton Hotel Mirador in Pacific Grove, a beautiful, comfortable setting just moments from the coast and within walking distance of our store. It offers a calm, welcoming space to gather, rest, and knit.

What is the flow of each day?

Mornings begin with breakfast at your leisure and time to enjoy a walk along the coast, fit in a workout, or settle in with your knitting. On workshop days, we’ll gather with Kate Atherley for engaging classes, then come together each evening for wonderful meals, conversation, and plenty of stitching.

What skill level is required?

This retreat is best suited for confident beginners to intermediate knitters and beyond. Workshops are designed to be supportive and approachable, with plenty of room to learn at your own pace.

Can I come alone?

Absolutely. Many guests attend on their own, and the retreat is designed to feel welcoming, inclusive, and easy to settle into. You’ll quickly find yourself among friends.

Will I have free time?

Yes. Time to pause is an important part of the retreat. There are open moments built into each day to enjoy the coast, visit nearby shops, or simply sit and knit.

What should I bring?

Closer to the retreat, you’ll receive a detailed packing list and workshop materials guide. In general, plan for comfortable layers, your knitting essentials, and any projects you’d love to spend time with.

Are meals accommodated for dietary needs?

Yes. We’ll gather dietary preferences in advance and do our best to accommodate needs so that meals feel thoughtful and enjoyable for everyone.

Are spots limited?

Yes. Monarch by the Sea is intentionally intimate, ensuring each guest has space, attention, and support throughout the experience.
