Safe at Home Block Workshop with Margaret Holzmann - November 21st

Saturday, November 21st from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Master using Intarsia for garter stitch while making a block with a quaint house (i.e. the Safe at Home Block), and practice generating stitches on diagonal edges, and how to make neat, virtually invisible seams. Intarsia for garter stitch is an easy way to add some small shapes to geometric designs, and the bumpiness of garter stitch hides irregular stitches.

Margaret is a knit designer who loves creating big things—especially graphic, boldly colored blankets. She coined the term “geometric knitting” to describe her signature construction style, which blends familiar (but rarely combined) techniques to produce blankets that burst with pattern, color, structure, and visual interest.

Margaret designs blankets because they offer a true blank canvas—to explore color, shape, and composition while creating functional art that can be displayed and enjoyed in the home.

This class is for advanced beginners and up.

In the class you will learn the techniue to make a square of the blanket. Margaret will provide a blanket pattern to you after class.

The homework file will be sent to you after registration. You will also be sent a hand out two weeks before class that you will be required to print and bring to class.
